If you want to see my stamp room, and where the retreat will be, then be sure to check out my funny funky video "I" made the day of the barbeque. Lolol- I am NOT a videographer, I need to learn to slow down just a tad but I was trying to get it filmed right before the guests arrived.
and I did not stop to show everything because you just need to come over and see it!
Here are both log cabin quilt tops! I will be taking them later this week to Ivonna the Machine Quilting lady. Unfortunately it takes about 6 weeks to get them back because she is SO busy and there is a waiting line! The sooner I can take them the sooner I can get them back, she has the quilt top now for the double sized bed in the Cowgirl room and I can't wait to get it back. I told her just to quilt it "cowboy" because she always does such a wonderful job and I am pretty excited!
I will also be putting dust ruffles on these beds to match the curtain in either a navy or a black check (black seems very popular in all the magazines right now) and it will match the cute black lamp with the blue lampshade I have too, so we will see.
anyhow I know many of you are anxious to see the photos of the quilts so I thought I would show them before they are quilted and again when they are all done!
Kay is finishing up the Customer Appreciation Barbeque Video tonight so it will post tomorrow- part 1 anyhow! If you want to see my stamp studio, my storage and my crafting area in my family room where all re-treaters will be creating then check this video out!
As you know I am opening a retreat in my home, here are some photos of what is happening with it!
I spent all of Monday painting the Americana room
No, that isn't a green primer but it sure looks it here. As you can see by the photo we just have the primer up. Kay was to paint the ceiling last night but he got home from work at 10:30pm and it didn't get done. It will be painted tonight and then I can roll the real color on the walls and we are removing the closet doors and I will be painting them as well. The closet is nice and white now too! The trim will be a vanilla color but more toward the brown vanilla than the yellow vanilla colors.
Here are 4 placemats I made in less than 2 hours last night. It feels SO good to be sewing again! These are for our Retreat Guests that come during the Fall. Click on them to see full sized and to see that each one has a different picture. I machine quilted them too and used fun matching fabrics for the back. I still have cloth napkins to make but ran out of time and fabric! oh darn! Another trip to my favorite quilt store! (shhh dont tell Kay but I am buying another full set of these so we have 8 ) lol
Here is the Log Cabin Quilt top. It will have one more solid navy border tonight after I get this posted! lol
Here are the fabrics I have chosen for the RED log cabin , with all the fabric I have I had to buy 3 pieces to match what I wanted to achieve! lolol sheesh I will be working on this quilt top the rest of this week.
Well, there is my update on the Retreat progress. We already have bookings and we will be ready to go within 10 days, so feel free to email me for info and the NEW website will be up within a week! I hope your week is productive as well and I would love to hear what you are up to!
Thanks for the lovely BBQ. You guys are awesome. Everything looked absolutely
PERFECT! I loved the white table cover and the flowers on the downstairs outside
table, and the grass skirt-like skirting around the deck upstairs, and all
the torches. I really loved the little paper flowers for the straws! Everything
was really beautiful and the food was outstanding. You are amazing.
Thanks Becky! you are amazing as well! We had SO much fun and we appreciate our customers/friends so very much!
Here are a couple photos Becky sent in her email-
BTW, your BBQ was sooo enjoyable ( and of course dee-lish)...Thanks to you
and Kay both for having me there...
(me is the gal in the bottom photo on the left! lol)
Yes you read correctly- Curtains Curtains Curtains
Today is rainy and drab- drab drab drab- last night we had a TORNADO.....
Our home teachers were hear about 7 pm and we chatted with them till about 8 pm- we love our home teachers!! And then I said- hey lets go get a pizza from Fox's pizza den. Kay called it in- and off we went. We no more than pulled into their parking lot when the tornado sirens went off- have you ever heard them? Well think Air raid siren from the war and you have it only multiply the sound by 3 or more and my heart went up into my throat- we ran in paid and drove home quickly. I know I know we should have stayed but we were only 4 minutes away from home so we chose to get home fast. We no more than stepped in the house when the torrential down pour started and was followed by horrific lightening and thunder. I rushed in to unplug the phone lines (last year I lost my modem even tho my computer was turned off so now we unplug the phone lines) and switched on the TV - oh gues what? No TV the satellite wasnt available due to the cloud cover- go figure! So we opted for the good old reliable radio! The lights flickered and the storm lasted about 2 hours. We heard the siren a couple more times but we decided to not hurry down to the storm room (aka my quilting room) because we didnt see any hail and the TV did come back on so we knew where the tornado went. North of us and kept going east. This is THE thing I hate about living here in the midwest. Number 2 is the bugs ! lol But, life goes on and so anyhow now to my REAL post
Here is my morning project- and now I have to get to my hair appointment (gonna wash that gray right outta my hair- are you old enough to recognize that tune from a commercial?)
This is one of my FAVORITE fabrics in the world! The dog is the spittin image of MY dog Tank and my life was all cowboy until marrying Kay 5 years ago. I CAN still rope, I CAN ride, I can vaccinate cattle, drive tractor and all that goes with it, but I never did it in a skirt ! lol
Here is our redecorated Guest room! We are fixing up this room for guests and scrapbookers or stampers who want to come for a weekend retreat! In a couple years we will have yet another room available for retreaters!
As you can tell, this room has a cowboy/western theme- The huge painting is of my Dad by Bill Swan the man who created the original mustang design for Ford and they only paid him 50.00 for it! Bill was one of my dads best friends. The Indian paintings you see in the room are by Bill and I will be adding more of his drawings as I get them framed. Click on the photo to see it larger. I still have a quilt to make specifically for this bed- its a double bed size. I am still in the planning stages for that.
