I decided to use up the frozen berries and make room in my freezer-

I put my thawed berries in the blender and hit liquify
IMAG1259

always get your brand new lids HOT before you use them so they will seal- NEVER re-use lids!
IMAG1259

cook the jam mixture following the Sure Jel packet directions

time to put in freshly washed "canning jars"   NEVER use any other kind of jar!

add the hot lids

put on the rings and screw tight and turn over your jam to cool-  I have been doing this method since 1980- learned it from my first Mother in law and have NEVER had a problem with it yet. When they are cooler about 40 min turn them upright and the jam/jelly will drop to the bottom and the lids seal like a charm.

Now, if you mess up a recipe and it's runny after it cools,  use it for icecream or syrup! just be sure the lid sealed or else put it in the frig and use right away!

Hope you are utilizing all the fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs for your food storage this season! I am teaching jam and jelly making on the 17th for our Monthly Relief Society meeting.

now, off to the hospital to be with mom and see what the tests say
