To Windy for Plastic

The sun is shining and warm but that dratted wind is windy and COLD!

Hubby is outside in his shirtsleeves and me, long sleeves and a hoodie with gloves! lol Partly to keep the cold wind off my neck and head since I am not "all better" but on the mend after being so sick.

I am EXCITED to share this update with you about our garden project!

I am blessed to have a wonderful husband who likes creating the projects I come up with or find online!

The original article/project was for a 4ftx8ft raised bed, but Kay made it to fit our 5ft wide by16ft long raised bed. We will have 2 of them by the time we are done but today we got the first one done... all BUT the plastic thanks to the dratted wind!

Here are a few photos , click on the photo to see it full sized

The bed to the right in this last photo is the other bed we are covering like this,  but one of the boards is rotted so we will have to replace it before we can continue. Hope to have it ready soon.

As you can see our beds are dry because before the last snow storm, we covered them in the painters plastic for this very reason. I still have to amend the soil of these beds and till them again before they can be planted. I am hoping that with Katie home this week- whoop whoop,  (she gets in late tonight) that she can help me with amending the soil. I need her strong arms and back! lol  We will see!

The "reason" for this project is to start growing earlier in the year and later into the fall.

I am going to post some photos from the plants in the greenhouse and outside/yard in the next post so I hope this inspires you in our garden work. My first love/hobby is my gardening then my sewing/papercrafts, yes in that order too. I admit it!  and for the record, I HATE housework! bleck

3-31-14 UPDATE here it is with "greenhouse" plastic on it!

Hoop finished

have a great weekend everyone!

Gwen
