I have NEVER in my 51 years put up Christmas before Thanksgiving- but...
We have NO one coming for Thanksgiving so we are taking my parents to Cracker Barrel to eat again this year. The food was delicious last year and that is where they both want to go- no cooking for me, no clean up and it makes the parents happy- win, win!
So, Kay and I decided we would put away the fall decor last week and we have started putting up the greens, and the Dept 56 Dickens Display. We just started the village yesterday. The blue domino box WILL go, but we needed it for a height idea for the conservatory. Kay will make a styrofoam base for it tonight and hook up all the lights. This display is the Retired Department 56 Dickens theme. It is sitting on top of a 6ft long table. I think it needs a small fence around the entire thing- will mess with it again tonight after banner class.
I have been amazed for 10 years that this is "HIS" display, yet I am the one who ends up arranging it each time. I will share more photos of it when it's finished and lit up. If you have a display and are searching the internet for ideas like we do, I hope this helps inspire you in some way!
Tonight is the Noel Banner Class and I am now headed to the studio to set up for it and start the Christmas Decorating in the downstairs. Yes, my full downstairs has it's own set of decorations! Wish I had a couple of Minions here today to help out!
Here is our deck at 8 am this morning- a skiff of snow- shows up better on the deck than in the grass lol
in 2 weeks we will have lived here 8 years, in that time I have NEVER seen weather this cold or snow in any form before Thanksgiving- frankly I am glad to have it. We need the bit of moisture it provides and it helps set the tone for all the decorating!
Hot cocoa is calling my name and so is my studio! Have an awesome day everyone!
At the Scrapbook day last Saturday I was playing with my Cricut, Big Shot and Stampin Up Supplies.
Thursday I put the page together after making a background paper color change- here is how it went using photos. I orginally wanted to use this Navy 12x12 cardstock and then started to think I would like it "softer" So I tried pool party cardstock and it was just -eh then I used The Sahara Sand 12x12 and loved it- click on the photo to see it full sized there are a ton of pictures in this post so I purposly made them smaller to get them in.
Here are more close ups of the process- I took my versamark inkpad and my festive flurry stamps and the grunge stamp and stamped the sahara sand cardstock.
I began laying my elements out on the page-
You can see the snowflake watermark stamped behind the S- and I added a bit of bling to the letters S and the Y and to each of the 3 other snowflakes too. It's just a rhinestone, but it really helped add to the shine of the page and didn't distract from the softness of the page that I wanted.
Here is the finished page- the snow photo will go in the center over the glitter paper. I wanted a glitter frame around my photo so I cut the paper at 4.5" x 6.5" for a 4x6 photo. I MAY pull it up and add dimensionals to the back of it for a bit more dimension on the page, we will see!
Using the bundle (framelits & stamps) of the Festive Flurry # 133285 for the clear mount and # 133284 for the wood mount stamps on page 30 of the Holiday Catalog by Stampin Up!, and my Cricut Cartridge for the snow day words made this page so much fun to create!
I am excited to get back to scrapbooking and know I will have to create a page 2 for this layout and many more pages for my grandkids photos that will be emailed over the winter!
I hope you are inspired to create some pages, feel free to call me and set up a time to come over with your supplies so we can scrapbook together (No charge- just fun, scrapbooking and friendship with a lot of inspiration for us!)

Every Body Deserves Great Health
Good health is your number-one asset! Vemma makes protecting your health easy with its ultra-premium, liquid formula that provides the vitamins, minerals and nutrients for greater health and wellness.*
Combining traditional Eastern wellness philosophies with modern Western scientific principles, the Vemma formula was created with a unique blend of Vitamins, Essential Minerals, Mangosteen and Aloe to provide a powerful nutritional formula unlike any other.
Antioxidants are compounds that inhibit unstable molecules, called free radicals, from damaging our cells. The measurement of an antioxidant’s power to neutralize free radicals is referred to as the Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) value. The higher the ORAC value, the stronger the compound’s capacity and the greater its ability to prevent free-radical damage at the cellular level. Vemma boasts superior antioxidant protection of over 4,800 ORAC units per serving.††
††ORAC value based on an independent lab test conducted in December 2012 (Lot #01N12018)
It takes about...
...to provide the vitamins, minerals and antioxidant power of a 2-oz serving of Vemma.
Information compiled from the USDA Nutrient Data Laboratory and High ORAC Foods May Slow Aging by the Agricultural Research Service, USDA, February 8, 1999, and independent test results.
Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) is a rare superfruit found primarily in Southeast Asia. No relation to the mango, it has been hailed as the “Queen of Fruits” and has been used for centuries by Asian health practitioners to treat a variety of health conditions.*
Of all the known sources for xanthones, the mangosteen supplies some of the highest amounts found in nature. Xanthones are a biologically active phytonutrient with very potent antioxidant properties.
The entire wildcrafted mangosteen fruit, including the pericarp (rind) and pulp, is utilized during Vemma’s proprietary extraction process, which helps ensure that the highest levels of nutrients are included in the Vemma formula.
