Liberty Banner

Hi everyone!

Friday my friend and downline Cindy came over for the day to stamp/create and this is what we made

Here are some close ups-  We had a ton of fun and it felt so good to just chat and create with her!

This first one we used the original Sizzix Big Shot Star Die by Stampin Up for the stars, Real Red cardstock, Night of Navy c/s, Crumb Cake c/s, the red and white striped designer paper is the flip side of a SU Christmas Designer paper from a few years ago and we used a night of navy marker to add the blue stripes,

For #2 Cindy showed me how to use Make the Cut to make my Silhouette cut melded words and the layer under them- I am so excited I can hardly stand myself!  The 1/2 circle and the cut out stars is a Cricut Cartridge 4th of July, and the designer paper with the navy layer we used a Framelit to cut it on the Big Shot- so SEE! I REALLY do need all those cutting machines for my projects!!  The Crumb Cake part is embossed with our SU striped embosssing folder and inked to make it more vintage looking. (the entire project is inked around the edges!)

For Banner#3, We cut strips then used the large SU square Punch to make the banner bottoms, I used the smaller star on the Star Bigshot Die for the stars, and we cut a 1.25" wide strip of the navy striped paper and scored it on the Simply Scored board by SU to create the medallion.  Not all the print papers are from SU- (Stampin Up) but this is for MY house and what I wanted.  Cindy used Whisper White cardstock for her banner and its really cute too~! (I forgot to get a picture)

I like to tie my buttons with linen thread. I HATE naked buttons on projects!!  I have been that way for 35 years!  I may yet crinkle the ribbon in my hand to distress it, but not sure so far.  The banner looks lovely on my milk chocolate colored wall in the living room!  I chose the word Liberty becuase now I can leave it up all summer and it's not JUST for July 4th!

The banner sections are cut at 5" wide by 8.5" long and we measured to the center put a pencil dot and the lined the ruler from the corner up to the dot and cut - creating the cut out v at the bottom.  The lace paper strip at the top is a Tim Holtz die that takes FOREVER to poke all the holes out of! lol But I love the look and SU just didn't have something like that in a die to use.

I LOVE that we can all use many different products to create our works of art and they work together so well! I have to say that I won't use any other solid cardstock besides Stampin Up because NO other cardstock is of the high quality SU is or in over 55 coordinating colors!!

Wait till you see in tomorrows post what I scored on Saturday!  Talk to you tomorrow!
