Joplin tornado was an EF-5 multivortex tornado; 122 dead, 1,500 missing. 750 injured. 8000 structures damaged.
Joplin survivors who have left the area: Call 417-659-5464. Check in and let people know where you are. You could be listed as missing.
Please suggest to folks that they have a Canned Air Horn with them during storms, in case their place is demolished. Sounding the Air Horn after will help Search and Rescue teams find them.

JOPLIN HUMANE SOCIETY: immediate donations needed -- cat & dog beds, blankets, sheets, towels, industrial fans & extension cords, 5 gallon bottles of water, small cardboard boxes, cardboard soda/beer flats for litter pans. Please bring your donated items to the large Metal Warehouse (sign says Dent & Ding Appliance) next door to Joplin the Humane Society between the hours of 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM (corner of Main & Emery)
Aurora, Missouri -- The Byron E. Taylor Christian Service Center is taking donations for the Joplin Tornado victims and will be making as many trips as needed. CHCC is now THE distribution center of basic needs for the city of Joplin at their request. We are open 7:30 to 7:30 today and every day following. From a Facebook tip: Billingsly Hall at MSSU is the place to go if you want to volunteer or bring supplies. They are training volunteers there and accepting donations of all clothing, basic toiletry needs, etc.
Solace Church 1610 S. Main Joplin is operating a triage and collecting and dispensing supplies.
Local Springfieldians: ~~~ Springfield Paper Co. has set up a donation site for The Joplin Tornado Victims. Bring your items; water, food, blankets, toiletries anything you can and they will deliver them to Joplin. Located at 412 N National Springfield, MO. Mt. Hope Church of Christ in Webb City is prepared to accept supplies. Immediate Needs: Water: individual bottles, gallons and up. Generators: If loaned pls have owners contact info in permanent marker. Gas cans to start generators. Extension Cords. First Aid Kits. Clothing. Non-perishable canned goods. Toiletries. All Baby Items including diapers, formula (sensitive formula for colic is very impt) wipes, etc. Contact Andy Wilson at 417-624-1795. Best route to take: 249 to 171 in Webb City. Off Ridgelane Road.
Joplin Relief Coordination Effort in the Liberty, MO area: We are still in the works of planning this effort, but for now please drop off all donated supplies (fruit, bottled water, individually packaged trail bars and trail mix, canned food, toiletries, clothing, and other non-perishable items) at the Liberty Northland Rolladium, 1020 Kent St, Liberty during public skate sessions. The next public session is 24 May 2011 from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Carthage: The Alliance of Southwest Missouri is collecting items at United Methodist Church in Carthage on Main Street, south of the square, to take to Joplin's victims: diapers, pull ups, baby wipes, bottled water, OTC meds, etc. Donations will be collected from 8 to 4:30.
