Sewing Skirts for College

Yes, you read right! I am sewing skirts for my daughter Katie!

She will begin classes at BYU Idaho April 19th!   We are sooooo excited!!  And she has a new "fella", so we have to create some really cute skirts and dresses!  It is hard to fit the skirt without her here, so I have allowed a way for her to adjust the elastic when she gets it. 

I cut both skirts and sewed them up in 1 hour and 15 minutes.  Yes, I always sew like that I have been sewing for 43 years now. I made most all of my own clothes from the 7th grade through high school.  Then in the 90's  the patterns became so expensive I could buy clothes for a lot less than I could sew them ;o( (major frowny face)  and, I HAD to be busy this week, being sick for 4 weeks is a real struggle because when you are a busy person like me, just sitting or sleeping makes you crazy !!!!!

Here they are with morning sun shining on them!

The left skirt is seersucker and No matter what I did, I could not get the stripes to line up so I hope it will still work for her! lol   I see skirts in expensive stores that make me nuts because the stripes or vertical stuff doesnt match so I guess she is in fashion now! lol

Technique: Using Stampin Pastels

Using Stampin' Pastels

Technique A: Chalking

1]   Apply pastel color to your card stock or paper with a sponge-tip applicator, cotton swab, sponge dauber, or stiff paintbrush.
2]   Blend the colors as desired with the applicators or blender pen. When using blender pens, just touch the pen directly to the corner of the chalk to pick up the color. 

Technique B: Poppin' Pastels

1]   Stamp the image with a white Craft Stampin' Pad or VersaMark^® ink pad.
2]   Use sponge daubers to apply the pastel color directly to the ink.
3]   Blow off any excess powder. (Repeat this process if you are using this technique with a Two-Step Stampin' set.)

QUICK TIP To avoid smearing, gently dab the chalk rather than rubbing it across the image.

What You Need

1 pkg. (2-layer size) white cake mix

1 pkg.  (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Lemon Flavor Instant Pudding

1 cup water

4   egg whites

2 Tbsp. oil

1 pkg.  (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, softened

2 Tbsp.  lemon juice

1 pkg. (16 oz.) powdered sugar

Make It

HEAT oven to 350ºF.

BEAT first 5 ingredients in large bowl with mixer on low speed until moistened. (Batter will be thick.) Beat on medium speed 2 min. Spoon into 24 paper-lined muffin cups.

BAKE 21 to 24 min. or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 min.; remove to wire racks. Cool completely.

BEAT cream cheese, butter and juice with mixer until well blended. Gradually add sugar, beating on low speed after each addition until well blended. Spread onto cupcakes.

Kraft Kitchens Tips

Substitute

Prepare using PHILADELPHIA Neufchatel Cheese.

Special Extra

Blend 1 tsp. lemon zest into frosting before spreading onto cupcakes.
